ANTI-SONNET ICE CREAM, BY LISA KRAWCZYK

“Each night I’m getting queerer / chasing myself” -Evelyn Knight

Each night I turn the mirror
away, a medicine cabinet dirty
& open. I dare to peek
at my fogged up cloud
a glance that leads me queerer.
Now that spring is at its edges
the mirror won’t indulge fog.
I chase no one but myself.

Waiting for the time to catch
down to me, to see level
ground, not stumbling along.
Get an ice cream cone
instead — don’t fret — enjoy
the brief moments of sweetness.
