YOUR ABSENCE IS A MEETING PLACE, BY Niamh BURNS

meet me on the split skin of my palm
where you touched me—
meet me in the fractured light;

where the bridges of my tongue
have split from screaming.
meet me in the noise of your mouth

humming like a sweet thing.
meet me at the edge of morning
before we lost it all.

meet me where the bones are soft.
meet me in the scattered light
where everything we love is softly burning.
